An update on the new washer: So far, so good.

Today, I washed a large load of underwear, socks, jeans, and such. [livejournal.com profile] daisy_knotwise looked at the very full laundry basket and questioned whether the new washer could handle a load of that size.

It could. And it spun the water out of it very effectively, so it dried quickly.

Then I washed the old comforter that's been sitting down in the basement for a couple of months. No problem.

And finally, I washed the two bathroom rugs that had been sitting down there for a similar length of time. Also no problem.

So this is encouraging.

Now if Gretchen could just reach the bottom of the washer drum without needing a step stool, it would be perfect. :)

My ability to reach the bottom of the tub was a deciding factor in our washer buying decision last November. We ended up with another frontloader - I wanted a 4.5 cu ft or larger capacity, and found one that I could reach the bottom of the tub. It was too wide/deep for the space in our laundry room (the door would have been blocked).

But the new one does an excellent job on large and/or filthy loads :-)
