Batting Clean Up

billroperThe cleaning lady comes tomorrow, which meant that today was time to get the house clean enough for the cleaning lady to be able to clean it. This is a biweekly ritual around here and usually involves a lot of wheedling of little girls to get them to pick up their things and put them where they belong.

daisy_knotwise needs to take Katie and Julie to swimming lessons tomorrow morning, her cleaning time in the morning will be truncated, so it was important to get started early. Unfortunately, attempts to mobilize the girls this morning were largely a failure, culminating in Katie storming off to her room.
I went in a few minutes later and explained to her that it is important to help keep the house clean, because everyone will be happier. We'll see how this goes.
Cleaning was finally accomplished late this evening after playmates went home. *sigh*
In other news, Gretchen and I have decided to exile the large tubs of Mega-Blocks to storage under the pool table in the basement. There's plenty of room down there to play with them and it will greatly improve both the corner where they're being kept and the family room floor when they're being played with. Eventually, Katie and Julie will be tired of them and we'll donate them to Windycon's Children's Programming.
But not yet.
(Gretchen isn't yet tired of them either, to be honest. :) )
