Sounding It Out

Katie is becoming much better at sounding words out. She still has a tendency to guess the word from context rather than reading the right word all of the time, but it's not as if I don't do that occasionally. :)

We'll work on getting her over that last part.

But she's reading. Slowly and carefully, but she's reading.

Using context to determine what a word is, is just as valid as sounding out. The important thing is that if her guess makes the story confused she goes back and self corrects.
