End of the Line

Today, I finished up mixes for every song on The Grim Roper that I actually have all the parts for. I want to go back over them and make sure that I'm happy with the vocal mix, but that's not too complex.

On to the next bit!

Yay! Have you listened to them in the car yet? Or do you do that at the mastering stage?

I've listened to the earlier versions of these mixes in the car, but not the latest ones. Since I have to do a format conversion to burn a CD, because these tracks were originally transferred at 48 KHz instead of 44.1 KHz (back when I was using an analogue desk and mixing for cassette and more resolution was always better :) ), I've put off the truck test for a little bit.

My runs of the truck test were always conducted with iPod and earbuds, so sampling rate didn't matter much. It always took me several tries to get the levels right, so I tried to start that stage as early as I could. But given that you have done this a few times before, you probably make the correct fixes the first time.

Oh, no. I'm quite capable of producing a major fubar in the mix, even now.

The good news is that I've gotten better at fixing them once I find them. :)
