There are problems with being a Cubs season ticket holder. One of the problems is that I am eating an incredible amount of expensive pasteboard, but perhaps that will improve somewhat when the summer arrives.

Then there are the things that the Cubs management does. In this case, what they did was to change the policy -- in effect, for the twenty plus years that I've been a season ticket holder -- regarding bringing drinks into the park. You can no longer bring in a Super Big Gulp or anything of that ilk. Now, you must bring in a sealed bottle.

(I remember when the policy prohibited cans and bottles. Apparently, plastic bottles are now ok.)

Well, it's their ballpark. They can have whatever policy that they want to have.

However, changing it in the middle of the season without even sending an e-mail to the season ticket holders was impolite. It's very hard to argue that this was a change that had to be made so quickly that they couldn't let us know before arriving at the park.

I filled out a complaint form at Fan Services. Then I left the park to go buy a soda and came back in using one of my three other tickets for tonight.

After all, you've got to have something to drink to wash down all of that pasteboard.

Clearly I need to find more excuses to come to Chicago on business during baseball season. I'd be delighted to take the occasional expensive piece of pasteboard off your hands if I had the opportunity.
