billroperMy lawyer called today to report that after the expenditure of somewhere between $6K and $10K of legal fees on our side (which will *eventually* be paid by my father's trust) and who knows how much on Connie's side (but I think her lawyer was doing this as a favor for a good client, so he's really been suffering on this one), Connie has finally signed the paperwork that has allowed us to *give* her our father's house in Belleville, Illinois so that we are no longer responsible for it.
And there was much rejoicing throughout the land.

We had known he was going to die soon and I often thought his last Christmas gift to his children was that he died just far enough before Christmas that we could go home for the funeral and then back home to our families for Christmas.
