Living Up To Its Name
Nov. 11th, 2012 11:34 pmAs we were closing down Windycon today, the shift in weather from unseasonably warm to cold and rainy resulted in massive winds ahead of the storm. One of the hotel carts with a banquet table on it as a topper was being used to load out of the con when a gust of wind took the table off the top and sent it flying away, nipping one of our staff members (who didn't appear badly hurt) and banging into a minivan (which also didn't appear badly hurt).
This was later followed by horizontal rain.
Overall, this was more weather than I really prefer when we're moving out. :)

Date: 2012-11-12 12:00 pm (UTC)Nobody on the crew (myself included) ever realized that the table the hotel was using as the deck of that cart was not attached to the wheels. Then the wind picked up bigtime (I was in the back of the truck, holding on while the truck was rocking back and forth) and I heard a shout and the crash. Apparently, hotel tables make good wings...
