Off to the Doc

I headed down to see Dr. Bob today as I'm going to shortly switch from Byetta to Bydureon, which means that I'll be doing one injection a week instead of two a day. I'll let you know how it goes. :)

While I was there, I got a tetanus booster since my last one was probably while I was in college. Bob was suitably appalled.

I haven't had one since I got out of grad school. I couldn't stand up for 3 days after it so I've been understandably leery of repeating the exercise. I'm probably going to get one soon though because it comes with pertussis (whooping cough) which I'm more concerned about. Now all I have to do is find a hole in my schedule so if I do have the same reaction, I won't miss anything important.

As a fellow diabetic on Byetta, I am most interested in how it goes.

What prompted the change in meds, if I may ask?

Although Bydureon is more expensive (at least at the moment), the once-a-week dosage is both more convenient and appears to offer better control of blood sugar and appetite with fewer side effects.

And although my co-pay is a good bit higher for Bydureon, I'm not paying for the needles (which I was with Byetta), so it's only up by about 50% instead of 100% net. :)
