Christmas Day
Dec. 25th, 2018 11:50 pmWe got up at a leisurely pace this morning, went downstairs with Katie and Julie, and opened Christmas presents. Later, we had lunch, then started working on various things for dinner as we prepared for Aunt Carol to come by. She arrived, much fun was had (especially by Ruby the Dog, who enjoyed seeing someone who missed her own puppies), and there was a lot of good food and conversation.
I had found a nice boneless ham at Sam's Club which turned out much superior to the spiral-sliced, bone-in hams that we've gotten in the past. We'll have to see if this is a seasonal item or if it's available at other times of year, because it is a happy little ham that will produce a few meals instead of a behemoth that will occupy the refrigerator for two weeks. Gretchen has solved the au gratin potato recipe and they paired nicely with the ham, along with corn pudding and Hawaiian salad.
Oh, we were all very full. :)
It was a very nice Christmas.
