It is hard to believe that it has been 25 years since the Berlin Wall came down.

I had a little time today to play with this in the studio, so you'll find a link below to something that will eventually escape here on an album. Right now, it's a lightly mixed scratch track.

I hope you like it.

One of the casualties of rewiring the studio is that the new configuration requires many fewer cables than the old one did. This resulted in an enormous pile of cables sitting in a big box, which is not the most useful way for the cables to be.

Today, I sorted like-type cables into bins. I now have bins full of cables that I may or may not ever need again.

Microphone cables are always useful. They're in a big bin.

But I haven't used an insert cable in years. Nor any of the two bins of cable snakes of various sorts that are sitting on top of the mic locker. I don't actually have any AES/EBU connectors left in the studio, although I have a great many expensive cables that would handle the signal. And there are many, many SPDIF cables for the limited number of uses that I have remaining for them. Ditto the big bin of balanced patch cables, primarily one gender or the other of XLR to 1/4 inch.

Ah, well. The MIDI cables may come in handy soon. We'll see.

In any case, it's now possible to walk around without trying to trip over the things.

And if I need one, I'll be able to find it.
