One of the library books that we checked out, because I was very fond of it when I was young, was Bartholomew and the Oobleck by Dr. Seuss. Katie is also very fond of it and we've read it more than once before she goes to bed.

In other news, the rain/snow line has now moved north of Des Plaines. There's a thin coating of snow busily melting on top of wet pavement. The outside temperature is hovering just above freezing, but will likely drop during the night.

By morning, instead of having the sticky form of oobleck, we are going to have the really annoyingly slick version of oobleck on our driveway. I don't know if any of it will qualify as snow by then -- we'll see in the morning.

We got about three or four inches of very heavy wet snow. Heart attack snow, basically, but if you use a pusher shovel, it's pretty manageable.

It also packs like a dream.

Julie dressed herself today, in a too-small Halloween t-shirt and biker shorts. And then she put on her pink coat, pink gloves, and pink boots and set out to make a snowman.

Our yard is now full of enormous snowballs. Some of them are over a foot in diameter. All of them are too heavy for Julie to lift.

Tomorrow, I will have to start making stacks of three...
