Word on the street is that the house three doors down from us where the limo driver used to live has been foreclosed upon. Certainly there's no one living there right now and it looks rather abandoned, although in reasonable shape, other than the fence in the back yard.

Today, workers showed up and moved a huge pile of stuff out of the house and out to the curb. It was impressive. I wandered over to look at it after they'd left.

And the object at the front of the pile was distinctly familiar. It was a 50 inch Samsung DLP HDTV. It may even have been working. The one in our bedroom, the Camel that followed the Camel's Nose -- a new TV stand -- into our house some years ago, is still working just fine.

But seeing it left there made me understand just how obsolete the poor old Camel is. On the other hand, as long as he continues to work properly, there's certainly no reason to replace him.

And someone else seems to have thought something similar, because not much later in the afternoon, a young man and his ten-year-old-or-so son showed up and loaded the alternate Camel from the foreclosed house into their minivan and drove away with it.

I hope it works.
