Space Cat

Space Cat by Ruthven Todd was one of daisy_knotwise's favorite books when she was a small child. It's about a cat, Flyball (who you may have heard of in "Library Song"), who comes along on the first trip to the Moon.

The original book was long since lost, but we've got a much more recent printing that Gretchen acquired a few years ago. I found it when cleaning up the office looking for the title. (You remember the missing title, don't you? Still missing...)

And thus over the last few days, I've read the book to Katie.

And Katie was absolutely charmed and delighted.

Whoa. Amazon is listing used copies for around $160 ($99 for the paperback). Hang onto that book! Maybe this would be a good one for Purple House Press to reprint.

Apparently, it was reprinted in the 90s, which is where this copy came from. We have an old copy of "Space Cat and the Kittens", but neither of the other two Space Cat books.

Two? I remember there being books called "Space Cat", "Space Cat Meets Mars", "Space Cat Visits Venus", and "Space Cat and the Kittens" when I a sprat, and I thought there were a couple more.

There might be more, but those are the only four titles listed for the original author, Ruthven Todd.
