Uh Oh

Up late tonight and we decided to let fuzzbucket_cat out, despite the hour. When I went to see if I could get him to come in a while ago, I noticed a strong smell of skunk in the back yard and closed the door. I went to check on him a few minutes later and watched the skunk run away from the patio area.

There's no sign of the Bucket yet. This could be unpleasant.

I've been told that tomato juice is very effective in neutralizing skunk musk.

living where we live I have no idea how we have managed to avoid this ... I hope Fuzzbucket managed to avoid it ...

Fuzz showed up in the morning and didn't stink, so I guess he passed the intelligence test.

Yup. Fuzz didn't get sprayed. It looks like the skunk was there eating stale peanuts that daisy_knotwise put out for the squirrels.

I'd concur with greenmansgrove and add the suggestion of
vicks vapor rub on the upper lip. Or a clothes pin.

The Bucket was fine and unsmelly, which means that he avoided getting another bath.

Baths with Hydrogen Peroxide alternating with Baking Soda. My mom had to deal with this several times on thier farm. Same dumb cat.
