That bites. I don't listen to them all the time, but I do like them occasionally. I tend to listen to 97.1 and 95.9, both are classic rock without alot of talking.
I've had the Drive programmed in and will have to add 95.9 now.
I expect that I'll see Ronnie Rice sometime next week and he'll have some more info on where everyone is landing. Sadly, given the way that Infinity and Clear Channel own everything, there's going to be a short list of choices. WJMK was Infinity, so...
There is an AM station that plays oldies. I believe it's 1670. The problem is they are a comparatively lower power station but they have Uncle Lar and Little "snot nosed" Tommy (smile)
Wow ... WJMK has been the Chicago oldies station for ... well, at least the last 14 years anyway. Like others have said, it's not one that I listened to constantly, but it's still on the presets in my truck. (Yes, I can receive the signal just fine up here in Wisconsin!)
Another "...playing we want ..." format, huh? I've tried some of those and oddly enough they still end up being the same top-40 songs, just from different decades. Show me a station that'll play Steel Eye Span, The Bobs, Pink Floyd, and then some funny fellow named Tom Smith (yes, in that order!) and then they can make the claim that "...it's like your iPod on shuffle." (OK, I don't have an iPod, but you get my point!)
I wonder if this is a widespread thing? Our longtime NYC oldies station, WCBS-FM, changed format today, without any notice, at about 4PM. They're calling themselves "JACK-FM", whatever that is. :(
Based on that, I'd guess that it is, since that's exactly what happened here, right down to "Jack". I bet the oldies station on 104.3 in Detroit got nailed too.
