Here's the first of the three songs that I wrote last week.

Falling Toward Orion

High upon a hill, closer to the sky,
Gazing through a cloudless night
When the moon is new and Orion’s high
And lost souls are taking flight.
Far above the horizon, hear the galaxy call.
And although I am rising, it’s a long way to fall.

(Chorus)
And I’m falling toward Orion from a terrible height.
And I’m falling toward Orion and I’m lost in the night
With Orion.

Past the atmosphere, nothing left to hear
Except the calling of the stars
Shining brighter now and I wonder how
Things could ever get this far.
Leaping up, soaring higher, reaching into the void
As I’m fleeing the fire that I still can’t avoid.

Far away from home, from where the planets roam,
Distant stars are drawing near.
Constellations change, patterns rearrange,
And there’s nothing left to fear.
I remember the pain now, but the memory’s worn.
And I’m half past insane now, watching new stars be born.

It’s so lonely now and I don’t know how
I ever came to be this way.
And I miss you all, and it’s so far to fall,
But I was never meant to stay.
And I wish I were stronger than the man that you knew,
But I couldn’t stay longer in the absence of you.
