Report From Gas War Alley
Nov. 25th, 2008 09:50 pmWhen I saw the BP down near work had gas for $1.899, I figured I was going to see some more price drops around home shortly. And indeed, when I drove past Elmhurst and Dempster, I found the Citgo at $1.879 and the Jewel at $1.869.
Sadly, however, the Jewel did not have brand-name cream corn and the last time we used their house brand, it seemed a bit off. Fortunately, the Dominick's did have brand-name cream corn and Honeycrisp apples on sale for $1.59 per pound. This was good.
It was interesting to note that the Bush's Grilling Beans were 35 cents a can more than at the Jewel, though. This probably helps explain why we don't shop at the Dominick's often.
