Bad Closer! No Save!
Apr. 8th, 2005 10:36 pmThe Cubs suffered through a lot of wildness today, along with a moderately incomprehensible strike zone. Any day when you walk 12 men and hit two, you're not likely to win.
Despite this, they led 3-2 in the top of the ninth, when closer LaTroy (Gas Can) Hawkins gave up a single and a double with two out to tie the game. The Cubs finally lost in 12 innings, as their seventh pitcher of the game finally immolated and gave up three runs.
The weather was nice, if chilly. But at least it wasn't snowing.
