Bye, Bye, Mets

Having learned to hate the Mets when they and the Cardinals were both busy being good in the 1980s and having moved to Chicago where they still haven't forgiven the Mets for taking advantage of the Cubs' 1969 collapse, it was nice to see the Mets perform a historic collapse of their own, blowing a 7 game lead with 17 games to go. Not quite as good as the Phillies (who took advantage of this year's Mets collapse) who blew a 6.5 game lead with 12 games left in 1964, allowing the Cards to advance to and win the World Series, but a quite satisfying collapse nevertheless.
And we are now safe from the danger of another Subway Series. :)
