The thermostat is successfully installed. At least, the furnace is running, so I must have done something right. We'll need to dispose of the old thermostat with the mercury switch later.

We had planned to have a rib roast for New Year's, but the price was obscene enough that I bought two steaks and grilled instead. daisy_knotwise hit them with the steak rub before they hit the grill, which was a fine thing.

Now I'm configuring the new laptop that we're planning to use for recording. It's just a bit different from the old laptop, but overall pretty similar. Anti-virus software is installed, Windows Update is running, and I've made contact with the wireless hub. So far, so good.

There are rumors of hot chocolate later, probably after Crossing Jordan is over.
