I am now the proud owner of a mutant baritone guitar. I got the itch to have one after playing with the guitar that Barry Childs-Helton had built out of a Warmoth baritone neck and an Epiphone 12-string acoustic guitar. But the body looked like it was under more strain than might be good for it. So I went to my local guitar store / luthier and had Terry build one for me from a similar Warmoth baritone neck grafted onto a Mexican Fender Telecaster body. It took a bit longer to get done than I'd anticipated, but it sure sounds good.

Date: 2003-10-03 12:45 pm (UTC)Danelectro isn't out of business -- they still sell effects -- but they don't have any guitars right now. They keep threatening to get some more guitars in stock, but...
I just checked on eBay and there are some Danelectro baritones there at reasonable prices, as well as someone who is selling acoustic baritone guitars.
