A Whole Lotta Shopping Going On
Aug. 15th, 2010 10:10 pmSince the State of Illinois has thoughtfully decided to give us a 5% subsidy on clothing purchases by temporarily suspending that part of the sales tax, we decided to respond to the incentive by heading up to Gurnee Mills and rampaging through the Carter's outlet to pick up clothes for the girls. Mostly this involved picking up new clothes for Katie, as Julie has a steady stream of hand-me-downs plus a lot of supplementary new clothing already. So Katie now has a new winter coat and a lot of shirts and pants for the season.
When
daisy_knotwise got up to the checkout, the clerks gave her a soon-to-expire coupon that a previous shopper had left for someone who needed it. This turned out to be us and it resulted in knocking another 25% off the price, so we got out for under a hundred dollars.
Well, not counting lunch at Rainforest Cafe, a couple of rides on the carousels for the girls, and my invading the Bath & Body Works Outlet to buy more bubble bath for the girls and hand cream for Gretchen.
Overall, a very successful expedition. :)
