I'd asked [livejournal.com profile] samwinolj if he wanted to come over and go swimming today, assuming that the weather held. The weather did, so Sam, [livejournal.com profile] daisy_knotwise, Katie, Julie, and I set out for Mystic Waters. What we hadn't realized until just a few moments before we left was that the pool was going to close two hours early tonight, having been rented out for an event. Oops.

But we'd promised the girls that we'd take them swimming, so we spent an enjoyable hour or so paddling around. We then adjourned back to the house, fired up the grill, and had brats and polish sausage for dinner.

And a good time was had by all.

One possible solution to a situation like this is to look for a beach park on one of the northern Illinois lakes. I don't know if Gages Lake still has a park (we went there a lot in the early 60s) or if Phil's Beach (Wauconda?) still exists. Crystal Lake has a park, though that's waythehell out there.

It'd be different, and I think the girls might like it.
