When it was time for Katie to go to bed, I told her that I would read her one story from her Curious George book. She then proceeded to "read" the other five stories to me. Memorized and fragmentary, but I'd say she really wants to be able to read the book.

And it did postpone bedtime by about five minutes. :)

This is great news! I consider reading one of the most important things we can teach our children and learning to read for pleasure is another aspect of this. Reading out loud to you and GRS will be key to helping Katey develop a passion for reading along with several other skills not to mention the added bonding it brings. This is soooo great!
Hugs.

When my Katie was little she really looked forward to going to school to "learn how to read". After they started "learning to read" she came home really annoyed. "That's READING? I already KNOW how to do that." :) Sounds like your Katie is going to be the same.
