We bought an MP3 player for Dodeka so that we could use it to demo CDs to folks who wanted to hear what was on them before buying them. The trick, of course, is getting the data from the CDs to the MP3 player. But I'm working at home now.

So I've been doing work on the work computer. And every five minutes or so all afternoon, I've been flipping over to the home computer, inserting another CD, and ripping it to the MP3 player. At this point, I've just about finished two of the big boxes of CDs, which is probably a bit more than 25% of the total. So far, I've only had to enter info for a couple of CDs.

Four boxes to go...

It is a good thing. I know that as an uninformed filk listener, I'd be more likely to buy if I could sample.

I know the feeling about entering data for the filk CDs... I have slowly been ripping what you have sold me over the years. (Then again, I have been concentrating more on the tapes than the CDs. I know I have ripped more tapes into the computer than the CDs.)

Once that is done, you will have a large database of information you can search thru easily when someone is looking for a song.
