The sad thing that is your theory of why your friend killed himself is highly feasable and happens far too often. I hope that some people's "what-if" lists consist of all those times they made descriminatory and derogatory remarks about people of a particular race/creed/age/sexuality, and how they affected people. Because those are difficult subjects to deal with and not necessarily "polite" conversation, they don't get looked at with the respect they deserve.
Anyway, I agree with Debbie....very moving. But apparently life happens for a reason, right?
