Penny Wise, Pound Foolish

We decided to sleep without the air conditioning last night, given the forecast for today of a high of 85 degrees. This turned out to be a bad decision, given that it was 78 degrees when I got up with humidity that you could wring out of the air. Needless to say, we slept pretty badly, although I was ok until fuzzbucket_cat woke me up around 6 AM. After that, it was a bunch of really strange dreams, including one involving catalana and a three-foot long potato chip.

When I left for work, I removed the fans from the windows, closed them, and turned on the air conditioning. This involved waking Katie who didn't seem to have enjoyed the weather either.

We've been so lucky, we haven't had to turn on the AC at all this year. Then new roof and venting have made a HUGE difference. And the nights have been nicely cool so far this year.

I'll use the AC at night when the forecast calls for high humidity, even if it's not going to be extremely hot; high humidity interferes with my sleep more than heat does. The [relatively] new windows keep the house surprisingly cool, but don't seem to keep out the humidity.

In any case, the cats get annoyed because I've closed the windows and diminished their enjoyment of CAT-TV.

It is rather sauna-like out there today. The small amount of rain we've gotten hasn't helped either.

You must have the same weather forecasters that we do. It was forecast for the mid 80s, it hit 101.

Fortunately the humidity was not too bad out here. Currently (midnight) 77 degress with 45% humidity.

Tomorrow's forecast is for it to hit 96, meaning it will probably be 105+ here.
