Mother's Day

We had hoped to go out for dinner tonight to someplace interesting. Unfortunately, it being Mother's Day, pretty much every restaurant in the area was way over full. We ended up at Steak and Shake.

Which made Gretchen perfectly happy. "Hey, any place where you can get a half and half dark chocolate and mocha shake is just fine with me!"

Tony and Terri did that on their way to visit me in the hospital at brunch for similar rationalle - low wait and acceptable food (except Tony says he got a banana shake)

We took the girls to a book signing at Old Orchard, and spent nearly 2.5 hours there before R's books were signed. Instead of eating out, we picked up Chinese on the way home since it is already after their bedtime (and I'm waiting for E to show up with the food now).

We did Mothers' Day Breakfast this year.
I woke up with a yen for waffles, and it's been long enough since I've used our waffle iron that I was afraid I'd waste the first two waffles just getting the cook time right.

So we went to Waffle House, and I had a Pecan waffle with a side of Really Crisp Bacon.

The Mother's Day restaurant shuffle is always a pain so this year we took Mom out on Saturday instead. Worked out great. Of course once everyone figures this out Mother's Day eve will pack the restaurants but then hey, Sunday will be easy then. A win/win.
