Seeking Chinese Buffet

Ok, living here in Des Plaines, we're hunting for a better Chinese buffet. Our current favorite is the one in the bank building at Oakton and Lee, but there's room for improvement, as two buffets that we preferred have closed -- the one at Mt. Prospect and Rand as well as the King's Buffet at Golf and Elmhurst.

The problem is that a buffet that features a lot of sushi, shrimp, and crab isn't what we're looking for as I'm unlikely to eat the first and unable to eat the last two items. So the New China Buffet at Golf and Milwaukee is a bad choice, as is Senoya a bit further west on Golf.

Anyone know of something else in the neighborhood that would suit?

There's one up here that I'm okay with Sandy just doesn't like the whole Chinese Buffet thing so I wouldn't trust her opinion. It's on Old McHenry just north of Lake Cook Rd. A bit of a hike for you guys.

I can't help with your area specifically, but I'll note that some of the places I've been in that avertise the sushi and seafood on their signage actually have very wide selection with those just being a small part. So at least some of the places which appear to be specializing in the stuff you want to avoid will also have plenty of other food -- I would suggest that it's worth taking a look inside such places to see what they really have on offer.

I'd guess that they feature seafood at the expense of other foods, rather than in addition to. That's too bad.

Sadly, my budget has left me pretty much out of the loop for restaurants, even in Milwaukee, and even at cons, where I am very grateful for the green room! Good luck finding something!
