Yesterday's problem turned out to be due to a piece of code that one of my coworkers had inserted that prevented the resource DLL that contains our strings from correctly inserting itself into the DLL chain that MFC searches in order to find the right resources. The code worked correctly in the EXE environment, but was fatal in the COM DLL environment that I'm working in right now.

It only took a day and a half to figure that out. *sigh*

As soon as I hit the word "code," I immediately started thinking a context of DNA transcription rather than computer code parsing. I didn't recognize your acronyms, but that just meant that they were strange genes that I haven't worked with yet.

I had to get all the way through your post before I backed up and realized you weren't talking molecular biology.

Interesting concept: organic computer programming. You write computer code that fits together and operates the same way DNA does.

It will come, eventually.

Of course, first we have to finish deciphering how DNA does it. It's amazing how much of what we used to think was "junk" DNA between the genes is actually part of a quite a few fine-tuning control systems to turn them on and off in this set of conditions and that. . .
