The new router has been successfully installed (same as the old router, a Linksys BEFSX41, but no resemblance internally or externally) no thanks to the Setup Wizard, as I ended up having to enter all the data by hand.

On the other hand, downloads are now back up to speed.

I never use the setup software for network devices if I can help it. I always have to go to the web interface to get things right anyway, since the setup is always really dumbed down, so I figure I may as well go straight there. I can usually get it set up faster than it takes to install the "easy" setup software.

Usually useless or worse. I dislike setting up routers. But, once in a while you have to do it.

Last week I had my laptop apart on the desk. I think I saved it. It was getting too dusty inside. I got it back together sans dust and it still works. One for the good guys.

BTW on the subject of CDs, and computers. They still will not play, but only in that one drive. I put them in the DVD drive and they played fine. Time for a new drive. I still don't know why that one disk wouldn't play on any of my machines.

Yup, the wizard is based on someone who knows nothing and is happy that way. I have a Netgear wireless plugged into Linksys, plugged into Comcast. Two cards on my Linux box connecting to the two networks (for administration), a printer on the Linksys and my daughters usually connect through the wireless. No way a wizard handles that. Though, to be fair, probably 99.9% of small router users only connect to one router with two or three computers.
