You'd think it wouldn't take so long to get home from WindyCon. :) But we went out to dinner with [livejournal.com profile] catalana at Sweet Baby Ray's during a Bears game, so service was (understandably) a little slow.

I had a generally good time at the con. I did bail on the open filk on Saturday night in favor of conversation, as it went pretty aggressively folky, which wasn't what I was in the mood for, although most of the folks there seemed to be having a good time. And I'm willing to bow to the will of the majority, as long as they don't insist that I be there. :)

Sales were so-so, but attendance was down a bit, not surprising, as most everyone has had enough of the Wyndham O'Hare. But we have a new hotel next year.

Y'all come back now, hear?

so, do we set up an expediton over there? We'll be able to use the hotel's shuttle bus to get there and back!

Let people make their own pilgrimages.

I had heard of the new hotel but hadn't paid attention to where, exactly. Yay for it being a Starwood property! Dog-friendly _and_ I get points. :-)

Oh, and comfy beds. Comfy beds are a definite plus.

First, what was wrong with the Wyndham O'Hare?

Second, does the new hotel have shuttle service to O'Hare?

Um, let's see:

- Lack of parking
- Lack of reliable elevators
- Mold in the "wet" basement to the point where _I_ (who am not allergic to mold) couldn't stand to be in it.
- Surly staff.
- In Rosemont.

Did I mention that certain members of the staff had turned to augmenting their pay by stealing from the rooms?

I doubt the new hotel has shuttle service to O'Hare. None of the suburban hotels do.

I haven't attended Windycon for a few years (circumstances beyond my control), so I had no knowledge of what the hotel was like. I assume that Windycon had a multi-year contract, and was waiting for it to run out.

Dare I ask what is wrong with Rosemont?
