One Small Step For Katie

Actually, it was about ten feet of continuous walking across the family room as Katie walked from the kitchen table over to daisy_knotwise who was sitting on the floor. There were later, shorter stretches of continuous walking, but crawling still appears to be Katie's favorite form of locomotion.

Today.

Tomorrow, who knows?

You do realize that "kid safe" just got three feet higher, right? Tabletops are no longer safe. How many low bookshelves do you have? :-)

Seriously, though: get her a nice girlie pretty harness and leash. She'll be much faster than either of you in very short order. Better safe than dignified, eh? ;]

She's already been cruising the table tops, so we've been moving things around pretty aggressively. If she weren't so fond of the portable phones and remote controls, it would be easier.

And we're definitely trying to postpone the day when she dials 911. Or Tahiti.

Well, we have a specific remote (we took the batteries out) and specific cell phone (an old one no longer connected to any service and with a dead battery) for David, and that seems to satisfy him, at least for now :-)

And I'll second the harness/leash combo - I found a nice puppy dog backpack/leash combo for David. I've also seen monkeys and teddy bears. Most recently spotted at Target, but I've seen 'em at WalMart, and Babies R Us/Toys R Us, as well.

Unfortunately, Katie seems more interested in the remotes that Mommy and Daddy play with than the ones that she's allowed to have. :)

We've looked at the harness/leash stuff and are probably going to get one soon.
