We went to the ballgame on Saturday and on Sunday, noticed that the front of my surgically repaired leg was red. It looked like sunburn and sunburn was certainly a plausible thought, so we slathered it with aloe vera gel and kept an eye on it. This morning, I noticed a lump on the leg that was unfamiliar near one of the scars. Hmm.

I packed up [livejournal.com profile] daisy_knotwise and Katie and we headed off to Gretchen's doctor's appointment. As I was sitting in the waiting room, I noticed that the lump was leaking. One of the nurses looked over and said, "You have cellulitis. You should see your primary-care physician."

So after Gretchen's appointment, we hied off to LaGrange to Dr. Bob's office, where he prescribed antibiotics and told me to keep a good eye on it.

Sigh. At least we caught it pretty quickly.

Ugh. Cellulitis can be really nasty. Mom and Aunt have both been through it. Glad you caught it sooner rather than later. (And good catch by the nurse!)

I had to look it up. I'm so very sorry. Please do take care of this!

Are you getting the feeling that you have some bad mojo going on? Have you been emulating your GBC and tempting fate a lot? Have you perhaps inadvertently walked around the house or office widdershins?

Maybe it's time to throw some salt over your ... erm, I can't remember which ... shoulder. Maybe pour a libation to Fate? Something!

Sheesh!

Left shoulder. The one the devil is supposedly perched on. Tossing the salt is supposed to get it in his eyes and temporarily blind him.

You're lucky, Bill; when I had cellulitis I landed in the hospital for a week. Not fun.

Oooh, Bill, take good care. Cellulitis is dangerous stuff. Internal infections can spread to the bloodstream so quickly and spread all over. My sister is very prone to cellulitis and red hot swollen areas are very scary for us. Fever signs too. So glad you caught it early. *hugs*

I'm so sorry.

Been there, had that. Nose swelled to 3X normal size just in time for Christmas and family pictures. Nose still has a small permanent indentation where the focus of infection was.
