My right contact lens has been bothering me. My optometrist gave me a supply of replacement lenses so that I can cycle through them every three months between visits, so I figured it was only about 15 days early, why not go ahead and get a new pair of lenses out?

It appears that I've had the lenses in the wrong eyes. Since they're nothing resembling identical as I look at them, I wonder how I managed to do that.

Does this mean that you've had a slightly skewed vision of reality lately? ;)

I hate that. Mine look exactly the same and my eyes have a close enough prescription that I only get a mild headache. Sometimes it takes me a couple days before I figure out what's wrong.

Somehow, this strikes as a perfect metaphor for ...

well, something. I'm not sure exactly what (life? pride?
human fraility? modern life?) but it's a perfect metaphor,
regardless.

by a baby, a bad knee, or something, and put them in in a hurry, I suppose it could happen

I've done that with my hard lens occasionally. Things just look slightly...out of focus.
