I have a new -- and with luck, final! -- set of mixes for Falling Toward Orion that [livejournal.com profile] daisy_knotwise and I will be giving a critical listen to. I'm keeping my fingers crossed.

In other news, there's nothing like discovering that you need to re-record a guitar track when you've destroyed the original scratch track that had the count off on it, because "I won't need that again". As it happened though, we had thought the copy of the tapes that [livejournal.com profile] min0taur and Sally had been working on might have vanished in the mail at one point, so I'd made a duplicate copy of my original that we'd turned out not to need after all.

Until now, when I looked up and found it sitting on a speaker, complete with the original scratch track that I needed.

Can't lose 'em all. :)

Which one did you have to rerecord?

I really love my backups. Every once in a while they save my butt.

Of course, I've also been known to have things fall into the cracks and not turn up missing until it's too late. I *really* need to get my Audacity projects under full version control. And then alias audacity to a script that does a commit when it exits.

Saving raw recordings is always a GOOD idea... I had to go back to them to improve 3 songs on Kathy Sands' CD that is working on permissions being located now. 2 needed pieces reinserted and in one case, I ended up redoing the edit of the raw audio file. Easier than playing cut and paste on a 1:30 song.
