I'm back from the hospital, [livejournal.com profile] daisy_knotwise having picked me up. Unlike the rest of the stay, the exit from the hospital had its Keystone Kops moments, including one wheel of my wheelchair getting stuck in the mud and some interesting (but ultimately successful) acrobatics in getting into the back seat of the minivan.

I'll be posting a detailed "trip report" soon, but possibly not tonight as I'm:

a) Really tired
b) Our good buddy, Sam, is coming over to install banisters in our stairwells so that I can get up and down the stairs without killing myself.

I didn't expect to be quite as tired as I am, but then I consider that I didn't sleep well in the hospital and that I've done more physical work today than I've done since before I went under the knife. So I suppose I shouldn't be surprised.

Thanks to everyone for all the good wishes!

Yes please, no killing [livejournal.com profile] billropers!

*hugs for healing*

You know, banisters won't be at all a bad thing to have for Katie Beth when she gets to the stage of going up and down stairs on her own. I realize that this was somewhat of a *dramatic* way of going about getting them, but...

*grin*

I'm glad you're doing okay. I meant to call you while you were in the hospital, but I kept thinking of it at stupid-o'clock and I didn't think you'd really appreciate a call at 2:30 in the morning to say hello. (Although if you didn't sleep well, maybe you would have...)

Ditto the comment that banisters will be a good thing in the (relatively) near future with the little one. :-)

Glad to hear you're home; I'm curious where you got stuck in the mud (I know the front of that hospital pretty well, between my father's cancer and my mother's heart attack...)

The banisters are a good thing; having almost tumbled on your stairs more than once myself, I think they'll be enjoyed by all.

I'll call you later in the week to see how you're doing then.

Banisters are good. Not going up and down stairs until you're healed up some is much, much better. Please take care, mmkay?

Take it easy this week! As if you'll have a choice. The Percoset will knock you out.

Tired is in the post-knee-surgery contract, as I recall it. Now I hope you heal quickly and well.

Glad you're home. The times, even without "good drugs", that my body has been insulted and needed to heal it goes into "I'm tired now, and although you've already slept for 'n' hours you're not going to hear the phone RIGHT next to the bed ring, ok?" mode. And that time it was just a little lump of flesh near my ankle being cut out. No big deal! Sleep well; heal properly.

Yes, health care and stuff

I'm glad that things are at the stage of "uncomfortable, but I'm healing." Bouncing back may take work and cause stress, but it's *so* much better than the alternative(s)! I'm not going to bore you with my own health stuff now (things are not going well) but even here, there will be some bouncing back happening -- although my version of "bouncing back" includes neither an infant daughter nor banisters. But here we go. And, Bill, you and I are going to be far better in two weeks than we are right now!

Nate

The human body has a way of repairing itself from being carved up - called sleep. That and the hang-over from the happy juice they used to keep you under for 5 hours while they did all that fancy stitching. It may take several weeks before your body's decided it's had enough sleep.

Glad you're home and on the mend.

Glad you're home & it went ok. Now remember that your body knows what it needs when it says "sleep now". Don't stint on that "repair-time". Sending continued wishes for smooth & full healing from here!
