I'm going to put this behind a cut tag, just because... Ok, so who else out there thinks that Sylar can only absorb the abilities of a person by eating their (intact) brain? I say intact, because of the example of Eden. Blow your brain out, save the world...
Hmm.. I don't think so. The victims of his we've seen have their brains exposed, but they are still there. So if he's eating brains, he's only eating part of them.
Still, eating all or part of the brain wouldn't make him that much creepier.. and DEAR GOD, Mohinder has got to be the DENSES man on Earth!
And on another thought: Since Peter has Hiro's powers in him too, he should be able to roll back time and stop the shooting.
Speculation I've read elsewhere suggested that Sylar opens people's heads to look at the brains. It's a tie-in to the watchmaking aspect of his native power: he can not only read other heroes' physical brain configurations but, once he comprehends them, can modify his own brain's layout the same way through willpower or telekenesis or whatever he used on the watches short of opening his own skull.
But we have Hiro's example that rolling back to the past to try to change something doesn't change it. Only the future is mutable.
I'm actually looking at Peter being able to extract the bullets somehow, if he doesn't drop her and start beating up on Isaac instead.
I have to say that if these people don't start running into some actual good guys soon I'm going to hunt down Joss Whedon and make him stop ghostwriting this show...
