No News Is Good News

Saw the orthopedic surgeon again today. We discussed surgery and concluded that it won't be happening until after FilkOntario and Thing, as he doesn't want me taking a long car trip (or two) shortly after surgery. And he's written me a prescription for a hinged knee brace, which would probably be a very good thing.

He also was distressed by the amount of fluid retention in my lower left leg and foot and sent me off to the hospital for a venous doppler to make sure that I didn't have a clot that was causing it. Happily, no clot.

Good for you. I was afraid we'd be missing you at Thing, so I suppose it's good for us, too.

So you'll be clomping around doing the Mad Max/Road Warrior thing for a while - just don't start driving tanker trucks :-)

Wow, been there and done that one too. I had the doppler thingy too, also no clots. I was on diuretics for about 2 days until I finally got ahold of my real doctor (who'd been out sick). Apparently nobody passed on to the on call person that I was a diabetic and didn't write down my blood sugar readings so they just concluded that I had the flu. My doc came back and I get a urgent phone call from her staff going "discontinue immediately!"

About the only thing that seems to help for me is sitting with the foot elevated, but who's got time?
