Change of Plans
Jan. 28th, 2007 10:28 pmI had thought I was going to spend most of today down in the studio mixing. As it turned out, I've spent the day (other than dinner with
beamjockey and the lovely Kelley) sitting in my recliner chair, frequently with a ice pack on my knee. The good news is that I feel better as a result.
Mostly, the knee doesn't hurt unless I do something stupid with it, although it's still quite swollen. The problem is the slack that the rest of my body is taking up. My left leg feels like it's got a shin splint, probably because of the awkward way that I'm using the leg, my lower back is complaining about the extra work and the amount of time I've spent on my back in bed (because rolling over is awkward and uncomfortable), and my left shoulder is really well tweaked from the crutch work.
On the other hand, I'm able to get around. I had planned to go into work tomorrow, but if we get the predicted snow, I'm going to work from home instead of dealing with any slippery surface. We'll see what develops.

I feel your pain...
Date: 2007-01-29 04:43 am (UTC)1. It *really* helped my back to spend a fair number of nights (or at least partial nights) sleeping in my recliner.
2. When moving around, take your time. Don't try to 'swing' the bad leg from the hip, that can really aggravate back problems.
3. Use a heating pad (or heat patch) on that achy shoulder whenever you can.
4. And yeah, watch out for the slippery stuff. My doc ordered me home on one of our recent snow days. If you do go out? Be aware that the crutch tips have very little traction on snow and ice. Trust me.
*hugs*
Been there, done that

I've spent the last year getting to know my very good friend ibuprofin. The PA at my doctor's office said to take 4 of the regular strength in the morning and before bed and it helped the pain in my back considerably. I've also gotten into a trail riding group and it is advised to take 2 at the trail head and have 2 more when we get back. Works great and doesn't make me sleepy.
