Fogey Night in Lisle
Jul. 4th, 2006 12:17 amWell, that's how
daisy_knotwise described it as she looked at the assembled multitude on the hillside, where we may well have been the youngest people there who weren't kids-in-tow of one age or another. Of course, that might have something to do with the three bands we'd come to see before the fireworks: The Shadows of Knight, The Ides of March, and The Buckinghams. Three classic Chicago rock bands from the 1960s that are still playing together -- that'll make Gretchen happy! (Won't disappoint Bill either...)
We ran into Doug and Jane and their kids as they arrived just before the Buckinghams' concert, then sat through a nice fireworks show, and finally caught a shuttle bus back to our car. The feared rain never materialized, which was only a problem in that it might have put out the cigars belonging to the two guys who settled in front of us to pollute the air. *sigh*
