One of the problems with the new refrigerator (not that new any more) is that the freezer is not quite as big as we might like, which means it has a tendency to be full when I want to put something else that is frozen into it. There are two solutions to this: don't buy more frozen things (impractical), or eat things that are already in there (probably a good idea).

In pursuit of this goal, tonight's dinner was some Trader Joe's frozen orange chicken that had been, for some reason, *opened* and resealed (sort of) and which had really been in the freezer much too long, accompanied by some very nice Trader Joe's pork gyoza which had (happily) not been previously opened, and some Trader Joe's frozen rice. Other than the somewhat elderly chicken, which was ok, but could have been better, the meal went well and got a number of items out of the freezer.

We also used up the last of the Panda Express orange sauce to supplement the insufficient-to-my-mind amount of orange sauce that comes with the chicken, while I used the remainder of the Panda Express teriyaki sauce to mix with soy sauce to make a satisfactory dipping sauce for the pot stickers. I *almost* used up the soy sauce, which is probably good, because I found two more bottles of soy sauce in the pantry, which seem to be the result of "Oh, we're out of soy sauce" when we weren't in that condition. But those things are in the refrigerator section, which spends most of its time in a less urgent state than the freezer.

At this point, we are far enough down in the freezer that I am seeing some really suspect packages of frozen meat, which we need to inspect and either eat or discard once we find out whether they are just packages of interest or instead future perpetrators of miserable dinners.

Maybe tomorrow...
