That Was Exciting
Jul. 12th, 2023 09:51 pmToday's excitement occurred around dinner time. We had just settled down to eat (while watching the increasingly alarming weather reports that had broken in on top of "Wheel of Fortune") when the sirens went off, indicating the danger of severe weather. The kids and dog decamped to the basement; Gretchen and I kept an eye out upstairs for any indications of actual severe weather in our neighborhood.
We got about two minutes of torrential rain, but -- happily! -- nothing else. By the time they were announcing that there was a possible tornado near O'Hare Airport (a few miles south of us), the skies to the westward were changing to clear and sunny. So we dodged that one.
It looks like there were various areas with some property damage, but not here. And no reports of casualties, which is really good news.
