It had been snowing for a while when I headed out to pick up the carryout Chinese for dinner tonight. I've been parking outside so Gretchen can charge the new van (at least until we manage to get the other side of the garage cleaned out), but the driveway just had a bit of slush on it. The car, however, really needed to be cleaned off. I stepped from the driveway onto the grass, moved forward --

And promptly fell down on the very slick grass. Fortunately, I fell well, so there was not a lot of damage, other than to my pride. However, the problem is that I really cannot stand up unassisted from flat ground right now and I *surely* cannot stand up unassisted from very slick flat ground. I sat there for a moment, turning around and getting wetter from the slushy snow, when I realized that I was all of two feet away from my car. I reached for the door handle and realized that was not going to give me sufficient leverage to get up. The side view mirror might work, assuming that I didn't just destroy it in the process.

Or I could just open the door and lever myself up on the arm rest.

Which is what I did. I then *carefully* got the snow brush from the back seat, cleaned off the car, and picked up dinner.

When I got home, I went downstairs, stripped off my sodden jeans that I had changed into that morning, pulled my clean jeans out of the laundry in the dryer, and started a quick load in the washer so that both pairs of jeans would be clean again.

*sigh*

Well, at least I fell in a way that didn't hurt anything.
