Our favorite local Mexican restaurant, Taqueria Fiesta, is closing next Saturday. Apparently, the owner of the building has sold it out from under them so they can build another bank on the site. That'll be the eighth one on Elmhurst Road between Oakton and Golf.
Frankly, I found the place much more useful as a Mexican restaurant.

Salud, the owner, is a customer of the bank and a very nice lady that has worked VERY hard for the last 15 years with that restaurant.
Damn Shame.

Date: 2006-05-22 02:25 pm (UTC)About 2 years ago, the long time home of a weekly fanish gathering in Palatine was sold (the quote of the owner was for enough money to fill the place) and torn down to make room for yet another bank.
That stretch of Rand Road in Palatine now has about 10 banks, which is at least 8 banks more than it needs.
