billroperWow! Who turned on July? The thermometer out back was reading 96 degrees earlier today. It *does* tend to run a little high, but a real temperature of 91 with this humidity is fairly miserable and makes me very happy to have air conditioning.
In other news, the arrival of warm weather means that road construction season moves into full swing. The planners have outdone themselves this time. Wolf Road, the major north-south street to our east, is bollixed up due to work at the underpass beneath the C&NW tracks just this side of the traffic circle.
That's ok. Just take Mount Prospect Road, the major north-south street to our west. Except it is down to one lane northbound at the C&NW tracks due to a major reconstruction project (one that is sorely needed, to be honest) that will last all summer.
That's *ok*. I'll just go to Elmhurst Road, the next major north-south street to our west. And as I came back from lunch down Elmhurst Road, I discovered that they have torn up a block of the street just north of the C&NW tracks. Nothing's closed at the moment, but surely they will be putting the ground-up pavement back some time soon. I hope.
Obviously, someone would prefer that we not leave Des Plaines to the north...
