Gretchen and I drove out to Rockford this morning and got our first doses of the Pfizer COVID vaccine. Our second appointment is scheduled for three weeks from today.

Everyone there was wonderfully nice and efficient.

This was easily worth the one-hour drive each way. :)

We progress towards something resembling the Before Times. :) J and I are not eligible yet, as we're both too healthy and not caregivers. MI opens eligibility to all 50 and up on Mar 22, but who knows when we'll actually get appointments. OTOH, it's not like we go anywhere, so there's no great rush, as long as I'm started by mid June when rehearsals start.

My mom and I just went through our county health departments. She got her appointment scheduled right away. It was a few weeks out because she's 85 and everyone in that tier wanted it. Once I was eligible, there were no appointments available right away (the waitlist was backlogged) but after a couple of weeks there were, the signup was simple and the process was flawless. The site was not very busy, the signups hadn't been taken, but they were clearly ready to be completely at capacity. My mom was confused about her second dose appointment. I left a voicemail to reschedule and they called me back in 10 minutes. Then she showed up at the wrong time and she got her shot right away anyway.

Major cities are awful places.
