It turns out that the injury to Ruby's paw was more severe than we had hoped originally. The vet spent some substantial time stitching her back up. She is now wearing a large bandage on one paw and wondering exactly what she did to deserve this.

Antibiotics are part of the mix. If nothing goes wrong, she should be fine, but she will be doing less running around the yard for a bit.

Miki has a bad habit of jumping at the doors to come in and one day as was inevitable she broke one of the window panes. Had to have stitches in her pad and couldn't understand why we subjected her to such horrible degradations like a stiff foot bandage that had to be changed every few days and that cone.

She did, however, get to sleep outside her crate and with me for a week. I'm not sure she felt the trade-off was worth it.

I hope Ruby recovers quickly, and maybe learns from the experience...

One of my mothers dogs-with-no-sense ran up interesting vet bills on more than one occasion because he could not resist jumping after tree hyrax, and finding new and interesting ways to injure his back legs. It's been a little while since his last trip to the vet for that sort of injury, so maybe he has finally learned something...
