Windows 10 tossed an upgrade at the studio computer yesterday so, when I came downstairs to put in some laundry, I decided to make sure that the connections to the audio interface were still working correctly. I got burned by this once on a Windows upgrade when I had friends in to record and I figured I'd rather not get burned again. It turned out that all that was fine.

Having recently discussed backup in connection with possibly building some new computers for the family, I figured I should check and make sure that the studio computer was being backed up properly.

It wasn't. In fact, it couldn't find the NAS on the network at all.

The NAS is, of course, two stories up.

When I got up there, I discovered that the NAS was powered down, probably because of a power outage in *January*. The NAS is now running again (and updated to the latest software) and has been reconfigured to automatically power back on following a power outage.

The backup of the office computer is complete.

I'm back in the basement after putting in another load of laundry and the backup of the studio computer is underway.

Whee!
