Last place I worked, we'd agreed to make a schema for the XML, having suffered through not having one at the previous place (most of us had moved en masse when the company tried to move us to Pittsburgh). Then, we made validation against the schema one of the acceptance tests, and it started generating bug reports. "No, I can't just let you put your statements in in any order you choose; we agreed to have a schema!"
